AKSG Commends Tinubu's ₦4.2 Billion Social Safety Programme, Announces Support for Women's Cooperatives

The Akwa Ibom State Government has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government's ₦4.2 billion Social Safety Net Programme benefiting 56,402 vulnerable residents across the state's 31 local government areas.

Speaking during the debit card distribution ceremony in Ika Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, said beneficiaries would receive preloaded debit cards worth ₦75,000 each, representing ₦25,000 monthly for three months, to support livelihoods and small businesses.



The Commissioner noted that the federal intervention complements Governor Umo Eno's humanitarian programmes, which have reached over 650,000 households through food security and palliative initiatives. She also announced that the state government is preparing a new support programme for women's cooperatives across all 31 local government areas to promote economic empowerment, poverty reduction, and grassroots development.
