CENTCOM Rejects Iranian State Media Claims, Says Reports on Hormuz, U.S. Aircraft and Naval Blockade Are False

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has dismissed three claims circulated by Iranian state media and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), describing them as false and providing what it said were the verified facts regarding maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, alleged aircraft losses, and enforcement of the U.S. naval blockade.

Claim 1

IRGC Claim:

Commercial shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz are dangerous for civilian vessels.

CENTCOM Response:

CENTCOM said the primary threat to commercial shipping comes from the IRGC's threats and attempted attacks, not from international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Claim 2

IRGC Claim:

Three U.S. F-35 stealth fighters and three additional American aircraft were destroyed during a recent Iranian attack on a U.S. military base.

CENTCOM Response:

CENTCOM said no U.S. aircraft were destroyed or damaged, adding that all missiles and drones launched during the reported attacks were either intercepted or failed to reach their intended targets.

Claim 3

Iranian State Media Claim:

Commercial oil tanker M/T Nora successfully broke through the U.S. naval blockade.

CENTCOM Response:

CENTCOM rejected the claim, stating that the vessel did not breach the blockade and that more than 20 U.S. warships, supported by hundreds of aircraft and thousands of service members, continue to enforce maritime security operations.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most strategically important shipping lanes, handling a significant share of global oil exports. Recent tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified competing information campaigns alongside military operations in the region.
