COAS Reaffirms Nigerian Army's Commitment to Personnel Welfare and National Service at NADCEL 2026

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to personnel welfare, operational excellence, and national service as part of activities marking the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).

Represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, during an Interdenominational Church Service in Port Harcourt, the COAS emphasized that the Army remains committed to providing an enabling environment where personnel can serve with dignity while ensuring the welfare of their families through improved accommodation, healthcare, training, and other support initiatives.

He noted that the 2026 NADCEL theme, "Protecting the Nation and Serving the People," reflects the Nigerian Army's enduring commitment to defending the country's sovereignty, combating terrorism, insurgency, banditry, crude oil theft, and other security threats, while strengthening public trust through professionalism and collaboration with other security agencies.

The judgment brings to an end an 11-year legal process arising from an incident that occurred in February 2015.
