Governor Umo Eno on Tuesday assented to fourteen Executive Bills during a ceremony at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo, describing the legislation as another significant step toward strengthening institutions and accelerating development across Akwa Ibom State. Among the newly enacted laws is the establishment of the Akwa Ibom State Geographical Information Service (AKWA-GIS), designed to modernise land administration by simplifying land verification, acquisition and transfer processes. Other institutions established under the legislative package include the Senior Citizens Centre, Hotels and Tourism Development Commission, Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Systems Agency, Public Procurement Regulatory Agency, Betting and Lottery Regulatory Agency, Fiscal Responsibility Board, Internal Revenue Service, Office of the Public Defender, Water Users Association, and the University of Education, Afaha Nsit.

Governor Eno also signed amendments to the Hospitals Management Board Law, introducing zonal management boards and district hospitals as part of broader efforts to improve healthcare administration and service delivery. The Governor disclosed that medical doctors currently occupying administrative positions would gradually be redeployed back into clinical practice to strengthen healthcare delivery, noting that prolonged absence from medical practice could affect patient care.
